Take your summer watermelon to a new refreshing level with these watermelon lemonade frozen treats.
UPDATED – My daughter is now 13 years old and she still loves this beverage and sweet treat combo!
In the summer, who isn’t about keeping it simple in the kitchen? It’s either too hot to cook or too beautiful outside to waste hours with meal prep. But this doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice enjoying good eats and drinks as this dessert/beverage refresher proves.Cool down with Watermelon Lemonade Slushies this summer @tspbasil Click To Tweet
These slushies came about from my 8-year old’s love of watermelon juice with a squeeze of lemon or lime (probably because she loves using this lemon squeezer I bought a few years ago.)
And since she also gets a kick out of making homemade lemonade – and I love not having to squeeze 20+ lemon halves myself – it was only a matter of time before I blended these two drinks together.
I saw recipes for Bourbon Slushes around Kentucky Derby time but they all used frozen lemonade concentrate and I’d rather control how much sugar is in my fruit drinks when possible.
I originally was going to make these slushies with bourbon but I knew my daughter would want to try them so I went with the virgin version instead and was glad I did. We enjoyed these for dessert for 2 days straight.
