17 Super Smoothie Bowls From Dietitian Bloggers
Have you traded in your glass for a bowl?
I'm somewhat late to the smoothie bowl craze (hence there's only one smoothie bowl recipe on our blog to date) but I figured it's better late than never to start to make them a more consistent part of my and my 8 year old's eating routine.
So, I asked my fellow food-loving dietitian bloggers for their favorite smoothie bowl recipes and boy, did they deliver. With this round-up, you could enjoy a new smoothie bowl recipe every day for over two weeks and never get bored.
Speaking of boredom, we all get into food ruts/routines and smoothie bowls are a great way to bust out of that same breakfast you eat every day or a fun way to switch up your regular smoothie in a glass.

Because the base is fruit (sometimes with milk) and the toppings are typically made up of more fruit, nuts and seeds, you can see how these can pretty healthy - not to mention a tasty way to get more nutrition into your day.
And smoothie bowls are a fab way to get the kids in the kitchen:
- Start with a smoothie recipe you know they already like
- Let them use the blender (with supervision for younger kids)
- Set up a topping bar so they can chose their toppings like fresh/frozen or dried fruits, nuts, seeds, shredded unsweetened coconut and nut butters
- Serve familiar toppings along with one or two new foods - they're more apt to try new foods out along side familiar foods and when they are in control of the quantity of the meal

I know -I'm on a kick! And it was so fun to read about your time in Hawaii and clearly you were "on trend" before these acai smoothie bowls hit the mainline. I remember when my aunt and uncle visited Hawaii a few years back and said they had acai bowls every day. Ahhh, dying to get back there now (for many reasons 🙂
I love a good green smoothie! And they are so much more fun when eaten out of a bowl, right?
Such a good point - more fun with a spoon! Admittedly, I don't like to drink my leafy greens (though I had cilantro in a smoothie once with pineapple and oj and it was delish 🙂
I haven't quite gotten on the smoothie bowl bandwagon yet, but the Meal Makeover Mom's Coloring book and this round up, I'm all in. Thanks Deanna. They all look amazing.
Wonderful round-up. I'm on a smoothie kick right now. When I have a little more time I like the bowl method, but often times I'm drinking them on the go!
Ah yes, that is the down side of the smoothie bowl. Not exactly an on-the-go type of meal. I'm thinking weekend topping bar with my daughter vs. during the school week 🙂
Yay! I love these all! And such a great idea to have the kids help! You know I'm all for that!
Thanks for the list Deanna. The Acai smoothie bowl looks delish. Just pinned this.
