Butter and soy sauce will change your life. That’s a promise. The easiest combo of flavors ever. And the best. Quick enough for a busy weeknight dinner.
“I like butter. I like soy sauce.
And I like anything they are drizzled over.”
Those words stuck in my brain.
Recently, I heard them on some episode, of some food podcast. But I have no idea where or when.
So when I was brainstorming a really quick and easy recipe for this month’s Recipe ReDux theme of ‘Sheet Pan Dinners,’ butter and soy sauce bubbled up in my brain again.
And boy, am I glad it did. Friends, this is seriously one of the very best things I’ve made. Ever. (One of the reasons is probably because it was so easy.)
- Just place fish on sheet pan – using Deanna #genious Healthy Kitchen Hack to make certain fish cooks evenly.
- Throw on the pan: quick-roasting veggies like zucchini, corn on the cob, green beans, summer squash, tomatoes, snap peas, or Romaine lettuce hearts.
- Drizzle on melted butter and soy sauce and bake just 10-12 minutes.
- Done.
A flavor combo to change your life: Butter and Soy Sauce Sheet Pan Fish Dinner via @TspCurry #TheRecipeReDux Click To TweetThe green beans roasted to tender-crisp, but still got a little caramelized. And the tomatoes blistered deliciously. And the fish was not overdone.
Please, try this at home. And if you happen to hear the podcast I heard about the gospel of butter + soy sauce, please let me know.

- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
Description
Just throw fish and veggies on a sheet pan and drizzle with melted butter and soy sauce. That’s it! Dinner is done in 10 minutes: Butter and Soy Sauce Sheet Pan Fish Dinner
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 (3-oz) pieces fish such as cod or tilapia (fold under long skinny pieces so they cook evenly)
- 12 ounces of green beans
- 12 ounces of cherry or grape tomatoes
Instructions
Coat 2 large sheet pans with non-stick cooking spray. Heat oven to 400-degrees-F.
Melt butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Whisk soy sauce into butter.
Place 2 pieces of fish on one sheet pan, and 2 pieces fish on the other sheet pan.
Place beans and tomatoes in a large bowl. Add butter mixture to bowl and toss gently to coat. Pour half of green bean mixture over fish on 1 sheet pan, and half of mixture over the fish on the other sheet pan. Turn the fish over and rub it in the butter mixture to coat. Spread veggies out evenly on baking sheets so air can circulate around them. Bake for 10-12 minutes until fish is just opaque. Do not overbake fish.
Notes
Use 2 sheet pans in this recipe. Without 2 sheet pans, the veggies will be crowded and will not get a soft and golden brown as the hot oven air will not be able to circulate between them.
- Cook Time: 10 min

Butter and soy sauce is an amazing flavor combination... I have tried it before and it makes the best green bean sauce (especially with a touch of honey). I never thought to try it on fish before - delicious!!! Pinning to try soon.
