Peanut Butter Lovers’ Recipe Roundup From Foodie Dietitians

Peanut Butter Lovers' Recipe Round Up - all recipes developed by foodie registered dietitians

[Disclosure: The National Peanut Board is a past sponsor of Blog Brûlée and all opinions expressed are my own in this post.]

There are few foods I can say I eat every day.

Peanut butter is one of them. I’m the person who has at least two jars in my pantry at all times because of fear of running out.

So, I did a little happy dance when the National Peanut Board decided to be one of our esteemed sponsors at this year’s Blog Brûlée.

Serena and I were fortunate enough to go on a peanut farm tour last year and we learned a lot about peanut nutrition, peanut sustainable farming and peanut culinary applications (here’s the link to that trip including our Favorite Peanut Holiday Recipes.)

At this year’s Blog Brûlée, Sherry, the dietitian who works for NPB, joined us and I learned even more about one of my favorite foods including:

  • 90% of Americans have a jar of peanut butter in their pantry (that’s a mind boggling number!)
  • It takes only 4.7 gallons of water to grown 1 ounce of peanuts (other nuts need 4 to 17 times as much water.)
  • New feeding guidelines suggest that an early introduction of peanuts may protect against developing a peanut allergy (note: introduction to high-risk infants should be monitored with health professional support.)

Fun facts about Peanuts: Peanut Butter Lovers' Recipe Round Up

As for that peanut butter – it’s such a versatile ingredient but I think most Americans still use it mainly for sandwiches or for baking. But there are so many unique ways to use peanut butter in the kitchen from savory sauces to snacking dips to marinades and on and on.

We’ve accumulated many peanut butter recipes over the years on our blog (I even have a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Love Pinterest board —> let me know if you want me to add you to pin to it in the comments below.)

But to get more diverse, I asked our recent Blog Brûlée attendees to share their favorite peanut butter recipes and boy, did they deliver! I’m thrilled that there are so many savory creations here, too. You may need to add an extra jar of peanut butter to your shopping cart this week.

Deanna- this is a post after my heart. I laughed out loud about your comment on loading up on peanut butter as to not run out. I do the same thing. I would love to be added to the pinterest board as peanut butter has a way of working its way into many of my favorites :)
