Corn, Onion and Ham Grilled Pizza: Pizza Recipe Roundup

Corn, Onion and Ham Grilled Pizza: Pizza Recipe Roundup

You can make this amazingly simple ‘grilled pizza‘ with or without a grill. Sweet corn, green onions, and savory ham are delicious, but use whatever toppings you have on hand.

Ahh, the season of Father’s Day…when retail establishments from fancy kitchen stores to the local hardware store in my small town promote all things ‘grilling.’ Thus, in true seasonality, I am following suit with today’s post.

But, in all honesty, my man only grills meat. He would never grill a single spear of asparagus, or even a stick of skewered shrimp. Only slabs of meat. Definitely not pizza.

But turns out, you can make this amazingly simple ‘grilled pizza‘ with or without a grill (I actually used my grill pan here.) Use whatever topping you have: I sautéed some spring onions from my Dad’s garden in lots of olive oil (so I wouldn’t have to brush the crusts with extra oil) along with some frozen corn and deli ham.

Description

You can make this amazingly simple ‘grilled pizza‘ with or without a grill. Sweet corn, green onions, and savory ham are delicious, but use whatever toppings you have on hand.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Toppings:
  • 910 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup frozen corn, thawed
  • 34 ounces deli ham
  • 1 cup (about 4 oz) shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Stir together flours, baking powder, salt; add oil and milk. Mix together with a fork. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; gather into a ball. Knead 10 times. Cover with a towel and let stand 15 minutes.
  2. Divide into 4 pieces of dough and roll out dough into 1/2-1/4 inch thick.
  3. Heat grill pan (greased with oil) on medium-high heat. Grill two pieces of dough for 3 minutes; flip and add toppings. Grill for 2-3 more minutes until cheese melts. (Cover with a cookie sheet to retain heat if cheese isn’t melting.) Repeat with other two pieces of dough.

Once you go “grilled pizza”, I think you’ll find it becomes part of your family’s grilling routine!

Thanks Sues! I find my kids will eat almost anything if I sprinkle a little frozen corn on it!
