15 Blog Recipes I Make All The Time

While cleaning up the site the other day, I realized that Serena and I have over 600 recipes here at Teaspoon of Spice.

#Holycow.

And while we make sure we only post recipes that work, that are relatively healthy and bottom line; always need to taste good, the reality is many of them I’ve only made that one time.

I’m assuming many of you are in the same boat – you’ll try a new recipe here and there but you generaly have a handful staple recipes you rely on. Those that you make so often that you may not even need the actual ingredient list or instructions.

So, I thought I’d compile my incomplete list of those kind of recipes  – some from our blog but I’ve also included other blogger recipes that I’ve pinned over the years, have ACTUALLY made and have returned to again and again.

Breakfast

15 Blogger Recipes I Make All The Time - Everyday Whole Grain Pancakes

Everyday Whole Grain Pancakes
The whole family eats these. I make them almost every weekend and then freeze extra for busy weekday mornings. I love to eat ’em with peanut butter and sliced banana on top.

Banana Brownie Waffles – Janice & Liz @Meal Makeover Moms
I often make these and freeze them, too. Daughter prefers them without the banana (how are we related??)

Banana Mocha Frappe
By far, my most used recipe on the blog – I make a variation of this almost every day. Sometimes I add in peanut butter or peanut powder instead of instant coffee and now I make them with fairlife milk for extra protein (#client of mine.)

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Granola – Ashley @Cook Nourish Bliss
I tend to make homemade granola in the fall and winter months and this is the only version I really make because it’s that good. And I often gift it during the holidays and make for teacher gifts, too.

PB & J Overnight Oats – Danika @Scoop Nutrition
After featuring this as a Healthy Kitchen Hack, any time I have an empty peanut butter jar, I’m making these oats.

(Side note: Did you notice a peanut butter theme to my usual breakfasts??)

Soups & Salads

15 Blogger Recipes I Make All The Time - Cheesy Broccoli + Greens Soup

Cheesy Broccoli + Greens Soup
This recipe is on heavy rotation in the colder months especially when winter greens are abundant (and neverending in my CSA share.) My goal is to get my daughter on board with liking it this year.

Mapple Salad Dressing – Nicole @Whole Health RD
Whenever I need to make a last minute salad dressing, I’m making this one that I have memorized – so easy and so delicious.

Roasted Tomatoes
I make this chunky sauce/spread year round – it’s a no brainer in the summer with all the glorious ripe tomatoes and I use grape tomatoes in the off-season months. I use it for pizza, pasta, sandwich spreads, chilis, soups or mix it with roasted veggies (like potatoes, brocccoli, green beans) and the list goes on!

Lunch & Dinner

15 Blogger Recipes I Make All The Time - Sloppy Joe Tacos

Sloppy Joe Tacos
Another recipe that both tricky eater husband and daughter love so I make it almost weekly. Mia loves to chop up all the toppings so less prep work for me.

Roasted Pepper + Tomato Shrimp Gnocchi Bake
I make this anytime I have frozen shrimp in the fridge. I’m also obsessed with ricotta salata cheese (like feta but less tangy) and love it in this recipe.

Homemade Whole Wheat Tortillas – Lindsay @The Lean Green Bean
Ever since I first made these, I’ve rarely bought the store brand since. They’re not complicated, they just take some time so I usually make a big batch on a weekend and freeze them. And you don’t need a tortilla press (I use my cast iron skillet to flatten them – thank you Robin Plotkin for that hack!)

Louisana Red Beans & Brown Rice
And another recipe on heavy rotation during the colder months. I’m always craving this around Mardi Gras and hubby thinks this is one of the best recipes on the blog.

Desserts
Note with desserts – I don’t make these every day or even every week but when I’m entertaining or want a sweet treat, these are recipes I have made time and time again.

15 Blogger Recipes I Make All The Time - Dark Chocolate Popovers

Dark Chocolate Popovers – Gretchen @kumquat
This recipe is the reason I bought a popover tray and I always have all the ingredients on hand so they’re a last minute sweet treat recipe I often go to.

Greek Yogurt Frosting – Regan @Healthy Aperture
I can’t count how many times I’ve used this 2-ingredient “healthier frosting” recipe. It works great on cakes, cupcakes, muffins, pie toppings, sliced fruit and the list goes on.

Sweet Potato Cinnamon Rolls with Nut Butter – Kim @KH Nutrition
Traditional breakfast pastries are often too sweet for me (I love me a classic plain donut or croissant – I’ll pass on all the sticky, sugary sweet icings, thank you.) so that’s just one reason I love love these cinnamon rolls. I think I made them 3 times in a month after Kim first posted them. And now that’s it’s almost fall, they’ll be back in the baking rotation.

Please share a recipe (or a few) links in comments below -either your own or another blogger’s recipe that you make all the time – always looking for new ideas!

Yes, give them a try! It does take a good hour to make a batch but you can freeze a bunch of them and they are so worth the time!

So many good recipes here! I will be trying several. Deanna, do you have a special kind of knife that your daughter uses to prep ingredients?

Yay - lmk which one you try first! I started Mia out with Zyliss plastic knives and then this year (I probably could have started earlier), I have let her use the regular knives so she can really get a feel. It's a bit scary but if the knife is really sharp, that's more safe. I don't have her cutting a butternut squash but she's moved on from tomatoes/pears (softer foods) to apples, celery and carrots.
